  • starter run on?

What is the cause and fix for 'starter run on', when she keeps turning over after you let off button? Brand new battery in, did it a cpl times before I replaced it...80-80 FLH...Thanks guys

I just went through this after putting the electric leg back on my bike. I replaced the spring in the solenoid with a NOS H-D one, the original was weak compared to this new one.

If you have aftermarket outer primary cover, try pulling up on primary cover before tightening primary screws. This increases clearance between gear on starter jack shaft and gear on clutch drum and lets two gears release easier.

put a battery disconnect switch on the battery ground wire

first time it happened to me i had the plugs out on a '70 FLH and hit the starter
it just kept on keeping on

Low voltage? Voltage is down and amperage goes up and the contract in the selonoid Can weld itself.
            that’s what I’d check first

Or just replace the solenoid if you don’t want to tear into it
The damage was probably done with the last battery

Just to be clear, this is the spring I bought. The seller is top notch in my opinion.

Just thought I'd share my battery disconnect switch location. That was also good for my ignition/light switch location.
